Proposed Itinerary for Abbeville's Olde South Christmas
“Come to Abbeville and step back in time.” Friday: December, 2nd. 2005
2:00-8:00 PM Carriage rides for fee.
4:00-7:00 PM Re-enactors skits for fee. (This is based on the availability of sufficient re-enactors being in town at that time.
6:30-8:00 PM Carolling on the Square at base of tree.
8:15-till PM Re-enactors play.
8:15-till PM Carollers at the McGowan/Barksdale House. (Throughout the week-end simultaneous events will occur.)
Saturday: December, 3rd. 2005
8:00-9:00 AM Merchants, re-enactors, carollers, craftsmen visitors breakfast at the Dutch Oven. (Dutch treat at the Dutch Oven.)
9:00-11:30 AM Carollers/bagpiper in the Square. Craftsmen set up.
12:00-12:30 PM Merchants, re-enactors, carollers. visitors parade. (Must be in period dress and no motorised vehicles. Hopefully we will also have 12-plus units of horses and carriages/wagons in the parade.)
Starting at 1:00 PM and continuing until 6:00 PM, various carolling groups continuously on stage singing. Spinners, potters, candle makers, wood-carvers, etc. will be on the Square all day demonstrating their crafts.
1:00-6:00 PM Re-enactors skits at Burt/Stark House and /or McGowan/Barksdale House. cannon display might be possible on Secession Hill. 10:00 AM-8:00 PM There will be two carriages providing rides on Saturday.
8:00-till PM Olde South Christmas Ball with the band "Un-Reconstructed" providing the music for our dancing pleasure.
The life-size reproduction of the CSS Hunley will be in Abbeville for the week-end.
Sunday: December, 4th. 2005
10:00 AM Church service at re-enactors camp.
2:00-8:00 Carriage rides for fee. Carolling at Trinity Church in the afternoon.
There are some other planned activities for the three days that have not yet been finalised.
